Invited to "Shqip show" on Dritare.tv, Professor Genc Sulçebe spoke about the new variants of Covid-19, where he stressed that mutations are normal. According to him, the new variants of Covid-19 are 2 to 3 times more contagious than the virus. Sulcebe added that it is precisely the presence of the English variant of covid that has caused an increase in outbreaks of infections in our country.
Genc Sulçebe : It is normal for this virus to undergo mutations because by being transmitted to different individuals, it multiplies and in these multiplications, its RNA which is simple, undergoes mutations, changes. Some of them are harmful for the virus and it no longer multiplies, while a part escapes the immune system, and the one that escapes becomes more dangerous contagious. So we have the English mutation which is the one that dominates today in the US and Europe, that of South Africa, and that of Brazil. The last two are similar to each other. They are 2 to 3 times more contagious than the previous variant and are thought to cause a somewhat more severe disease.

Genc Sulçebe: Undoubtedly, we have found that we are dealing with this variant in Albania and this variant is becoming dominant in Europe and during March will be dominant on both continents, in North America and Europe. It is more contagious and thus is even more problematic. It is the race that the virus makes to survive. Therefore, vaccination must be as massive as possible, as fast as possible to compete with the virus, before it creates new mutations.
