The results from the test conducted in the USA for the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine once again confirm its safety and effectiveness against Covid-19. More than 32,000 volunteers participated, mostly in America, but also in Chile and Peru. Tests showed that the vaccine was 79% effective against the onset of virus symptoms and 100% effective in preventing serious illness. It was also confirmed that the vaccine was safe by refuting the theory that this vaccine causes blood clots. About one-fifth of the volunteers in this trial were over 65 years old, and the vaccine provided more protection for them than for younger age groups. These results serve some countries that have not authorized the vaccine for persons over 65 years of age. The WHO and EMA previously published results showing that the vaccine was safe and effective.
